This is a blog about marketing. But it’s not for marketing professionals (though you are also welcome to chime in). It’s for consumers of marketing; small business owners who can’t afford to hire an ad agency, larger businesses that also do all their marketing in-house, or people who just want to be better at using marketing services from their ad agencies.
I’ll be talking about some fundamental marketing rules that everybody in business needs to be conscious of; like how vital creativity is to get your message across, how your customers own their perceptions, how the message is more important than the medium, and how important emotion is in persuading people–even and especially in B2B marketing.
And I’ll occasionally let slip some temple secrets of how to do it yourself.
I even co-wrote a book about it: The Unbreakable Rules of Marketing: 9 1/2 Ways to Get People to Love You . And, as we all know, once you’ve published a book, you’re an expert. Never mind the thirty years doing it for a living. And teaching college level courses in it. And generating billions in sales and scores of awards. None of that matters. Write a book.
So, enjoy the blog. But follow the rules.
